Good Grief film wins in Straight 8 Shootout

This year MSE entered the Straight 8 Shootout competition for the first time and we are so proud to have walked away the silver prize for Ellis’s film 'Good Grief'.

Created and directed by Ellis Fox, poem written by SJ O'Mara and sound mix from Chris Walker, 'Good Grief' chronicles the stages of sorrow in a delicate yet poignant way.

The Straight8 Shootout competition does not permit any editing out of camera and only allows use of one roll of film. In addition to this entrees must provide an original soundtrack. Being an offline house, this task removes the editing element we are all most familiar with, making it an exciting challenge!

Ellis had to say "We had a great time making our entry for this year's Straight 8, it was surreal to be in the dark about what we'd actually shot until the day of the premiere but thanks to the efforts of everyone involved, we made something that we can be really proud of!"

The prize money will be donated to The Good Grief Trust who exist to help all those suffering with grief in the UK by providing support and reassurance.

Huge congratulations to everyone involved.
